Osaka International Airport
The city of Kyoto itself doesn’t have an airport. The closest airport to Kyoto is Osaka International Airport (also called Itami Airport) which is around 36 km from Kyoto, and about 55 minutes away by bus. However, because Osaka International Airport only takes domestic flights, most international travelers find that Kansai International Airport is more convenient. Kansai International Airport is 77 km away from Kyoto in Osaka Bay, and a 75 minute journey away by limited express train.

Sanzen-in Temple
Sanzen-in Temple, also called Kajii Monzeki, is a formal, quiet temple with a history of over 1,000 years. With fresh green leaves in the spring, hydrangeas in the rainy season, colorful foliage in autumn and snowy scenery in winter, the beautiful garden refreshes visitors in every season.
Hieizan Enryakuji Temple
Enryaku-ji Temple is said to be one of the main spiritual centers of Japanese culture. An ancient monastery complex atop Mt. Hiei-zan, it is a richly atmospheric place with old temples and artifacts, misty ravines and towering cedars, and a long, fascinating history. It is a marvelous place to visit, combining choice hiking (and great views) with a chance to explore important sites of Japanese history.
